A common problem with disks under Volume Manager control is commands failing against a volume. One possible cause is as follows:

 1. Disks may be in a failing status, check this with vxdisk list
 2. This can be fixed using the following command: vxedit set failing=off
    diskname

Another problem can be a mismatch between the kernel information and the configuration information kept on disk. This can lead to problems such as “Device Path Invalid” . To resolve this, enter the following:

vxdctl enable

This will cause the vxconfigd daemon to reread the configuration.
