Solaris Network files

  • /etc/hostname.interface - contains hostname associated with specified interface card
  • /etc/nodename - contains local hostname
  • /etc/defaultdomain - contains default domain name, fully qualified
  • /etc/defaultrouter - contains default router name or IP address
  • /etc/hosts - IP addresses. Symbollically linked to /etc/inet/hosts
  • /etc/netmasks - contains netmask if subnetting required. Symbolic link to /etc/inet/netmasks

System files

  • /etc/default - default settings used by programs specified
  • /etc/default/login - used to control from where can log on directly as root
  • /etc/system - contains kernel parameters (man kernel for details)
  • /etc/dfs - NFS parameters
  • /etc/vfstab - filesystem mount information
